The Best Places to Bring Your Dog in NoVa

Disclaimer: I wrote and scheduled this post before ‘social distancing’ was part of my vocabulary. I am still sharing because since you’re stuck at home, you have lots of time to read and make future plans. Please continue to follow CDC guidelines while reading about the best places to bring your dog in NoVa.

The weather is getting nice and we’re all going to be outside again soon. Last year I wrote a blog post all about the best restaurants to take kids in NoVa. This year I am sharing some of the best places to bring your dog in NoVa!

Full disclosure: I have not been to all of these places, but am excited to have new places to try with my new puppy!

Some of our current favorites: Fireworks Pizza (fantastic heated outdoor patio, with a great doggie menu); Lazy Dog (brand spankin’ new to our area – if you haven’t been, this West Coast brand is a must try. Heated outdoor patio and they have a doggie menu. Also, the food and drinks for humans are delicious!); and Shoes Cup & Cork (gorgeous secret garden area in the back with heaters! My kids and I love walking here in nice weather.)

The weather is going to be beautiful again soon enough. This year I am sharing some of the best places to bring your dog in NoVa!

I asked in a local business owners group to share their dog-friendly businesses and this is what I found out:

The patio at SideBar is dog friendly, and if you walk up to their coffee window to order, they have treats! The same owners also have “dog days” at 14 Loudoun – Home of Fa La La during the summer, and welcome on the patio anytime. They are also in the process of finishing the dog park at More Better Restaurant & Beer Hall in Round Hill! These are seriously dog-friendly people 🙂

Dogs are welcome in the Bier & Weingarten at DOENER BISTRO. Plenty of dog bowls available!

Spanky’s Shenanigans is a Leesburg staple that hosts “Yappy Hour” on the back deck to raise funds for local animal rescues. The waiters come around with steak for the dogs. Yum! Check the website for dates/times. (And thanks Donna D. for the tip – can’t wait to hang out with the HSLC crew!)

While you’re in downtown Leesburg, you might as well do a little shopping. Dogs are welcome in The Sunflower Shack (but not the candy section), Madisonbelle, Plum Grove Cyclery, Transition Triathlon, The Other Kind of Jewelry Store (they have a resident dog of their own!) and Brick & Mortar always has treats!

Of course, I also asked in the Northern Virginia Foodies and Loudoun Fur Moms groups to share some of their favorites. I tried to avoid repeats but some of these places are just too popular not to share more than once:

Blue Ridge Grill in Brambleton – they bring them doggie water and treats available.” – Kelly F.

Parallel Wine and Whiskey Bar. Nice outdoor area. Although, I am sure any dog would love their charcuterie board.” – Jen R.

2 Silos Brewery. Not sure about a menu for dogs, but plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, some of the outdoor seating is around fire pits.” – Stephanie C.

Old Ox Brewery in Middleburg allows pups in their tasting room (not just on their patio). Their food menu isn’t huge, but we enjoyed everything we had there. And the beer is great so… :)” – Jocelyn D.

“My favorite place to take my girls is Dirt Farm Brewing – plenty of open space for them and great beer for us with incredible views.” – Rebecca W.

Great Country Farm has playground equipment to play on, lots of animals to and smells so that mentally and physically wears out my pack. They also have a dog park. Morven Park has wide open land to walk without any issues. Beautiful country side. I can hook my dogs to a 30-50 ft lead in a field and just let them enjoy. Vanish Brewery has tons of room super dog friendly. Secret Garden (Shoes Cup & Cork) is a restaurant with an awesome patio tented and heated during the winter but open during the summer. They bring your pups bowls or water and great food. Delirium has an awesome patio and is super dog friendly, great to grab food and chill. Gruto’s lets dogs inside and serves dog ice cream too so everyone enjoys. Note I take my dogs outside to eat and make a mess 😂” – Christie L.

The Treasure Hound in Chantilly! Leashed pets are always welcome. Proceeds from the shop support a local no-kill animal rescue, and they always have great deals. Win for you, win for your dog, win for Friends of Homeless Animals. 😊” – Michelle W.

Maggie Malick Wine Caves has regular dog swims and meet ups- I LOVE seeing the puppers there! <3 Pet owners could also follow Woofbowl dog treat food truck and go where THEY are!” – Renee V.
