Nearly a month ago I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be part of a local Clickin Moms “Shoot Out” organized by none other than Kate from Kate Juliet Photography another Loudoun maternity photographer whose work I really admire. We met up at 48 Fields in Leesburg, VA for a lovely Golden Hour maternity and child portrait session. Mom was given the royal treatment by a professional hair and makeup artist and wardrobe to wear for the session.
The shoot gave me an opportunity to try some new things – different shooting styles, more creative editing. I even got to do a quick lens swap. There can be a lot of competitiveness in this industry so it was really wonderful to be able to chat with other photographers and be inspired by each other. I am also loving seeing what the other photographers are coming up with; same models, conditions, poses, etc, and yet each of us is producing imagery unique to us. What we are seeing and capturing through our lens truly varies from person to person. Photography is not one-size-fits-all.
Also, I have to commend my fellow Clickin Moms not only on their incredible talent but also for their decision making abilities. It was so difficult not to share every. single. picture. This beautiful mom and son handled themselves like true professionals – as if having a group of photographers follow them around a field in full hair and makeup was just part of their every day routine.
