Maybe you get together with your extended family often (or not often enough). But how often are you having photos taken of your time together? My guess would be never, only because my own family relies on me to do ours 😉
You may know by now that I love extended family photo sessions. I was thrilled when this bunch contacted me about being their Maryland family photographer. They get together regularly but were celebrating a big birthday and an engagement on this particular occasion. So we have sisters, a spouse, and then their four kids + spouses + grandkids. What’s even nicer is that the collection they chose included an album, so the birthday girl will have a beautiful reminder of this event on her coffee table. I can’t wait for her to see it!
It’s so important to have photos taken of your extended family together at least once, if not every few years, but maybe you don’t think of it or it seems like a pain to coordinate. Part of what makes these sessions so fun is that everyone just makes each other laugh, so the photos are relaxed and natural. If everyone is going to be together anyway, take an hour to have it professionally documented. We had plenty of time for group shots and then smaller family units. It’s like having your own personal mini session!
