Fleeting Moments

I wanted to blog today.

I wanted to tell you all about our adventures trying to buy my husband a new (used) commuter car for work – people, cars do not appreciate in value. At least not the ones we were looking at.

I wanted to discuss how it seems we always get salesman knocking on our door during nap time, despite the “No Solicitors” sign taped over our doorbell. I don’t really even have a problem with the knocking, but our German Shepherds do. And because I immediately rush to quiet them down, I can’t pretend I’m not home and ignore the salesman. But I digress…

Instead, I got caught by this sweet little moment today and it’s all I can think about:

This is no ordinary sleeping toddler. Isabella has almost entirely given up on napping ever since our nap time fiasco ten days ago. Also, she will be two years old in one week and six days. And she is no ordinary two year old; Izzy was just over 6 weeks premature and weighed only 3lbs 10ozs when she was born. Though she is such a “big girl” these days, today, while she finally napped on the couch for a few hours, she looked just as sweet and innocent as she did two years ago. I raced to grab my camera to capture this fleeting moment. (The middle picture is my favorite because when she was born, she didn’t have eyebrows or visible eyelashes.)

Then she woke up and demanded dinner…so we went out to our favorite sushi place where she fed herself tofu and rice with kiddie chopsticks. I guess she can’t stay small forever.
